web design

web designThe aspects and considerations in designing a website are varied and an important part of producing a successful result. Depending on the purpose of the actual site, and what the primary goal is, will require focus on different aspects of design. The most typical commercial websites have four considerations to take into account in the design process.

These basic four are Content, Usability, Appearance and Visibility. Content covers the actual substance and information contained within the website and to make sure that it is relevant for the target audience. Usability relates to how an average website visitor will find the navigation of the site which should be simple and reliable. Appearance is important as first impressions of how the site looks will immediately form an interpretation of the company. Style and appearance should always be professional, appealing and relevant. Visibility is yet another hugely important part of web design. The site needs to hold text and codes that allow search engines to locate and place the site within its search pages so that a potential visitor can easily locate and access the site.

A typical site will have an Index or ‘home’ page that will contain links to other pages on the site. Generally the home page is a welcome and brief overview of the site purpose and content. The home page then is followed by other pages of specific relevance each with their own URL (uniform resource locator).
